Dreams. We all have them. Goals we want to achieve in life so we can say that we lived our lives to the fullest.
One of my dreams is to go to Japan. I’ve wanted to visit the country since I was a kid. I saw a photo of Tokyo Game Show in a gaming magazine when I was about four years old and I was blown away by it. It was all neon and many different colours, I had never seen anything like it. Since then I made it a goal of mine to go visit Japan.
Last year I made steps towards my dream. I applied for a job late last year to teach English in Japan. It’s something that I found out about when I started university and since then I wanted to do it. Once I graduated from university, I got all the necessary things I needed to apply, I did a bit more research about the job and then I sent off my application. A month passed and I thought I didn’t get through to the interview stage but I did. I was over the moon and I was a step closer to achieving my dream.
Fast forward to January when I went to the interview and obviously I was nervous, that’s normal. I did the interview and I thought I did rather well. I wasn’t the only person applying though, thousands of other people applied all with a dream, a goal, an ambition in mind. It was very competitive.
I got a response a few days ago and unfortunately I didn’t get the job. Was I upset? Of course, it’s natural to feel that way. Was I annoyed? Of course. Again it’s natural to feel that way after being unsuccessful when applying for a job, especially when that job is tied to one of your dreams.
I applied and I wasn’t successful which is a setback in achieving my dream of going to Japan. I’m not going to let it get me down though. I’m going to use the confidence, motivation and knowledge that I have got from this application process and I am going for it again. I suffered a setback but I’m not going to walk away from achieving one of my dreams because of it. I’m now more motivated than ever to achieve it. This was the closest I’ve been to obtaining my dream and I know that with a little bit more hard work that I can get it.
When the application process opens up again, I’m applying for it and I’m going to keep going for it until I fulfill my dream.
If you have a dream, go for it. Leap, reach out and grab it with both hands. If you don’t get it the first time, pick yourself up and go for it again. If you fail to fulfill your dream another time, pick yourself up and go for it again. Keep going for it until you grab your dream and stick the landing.
We only have one life and we’ve got to make it count. We’ve got to leave a mark on this world; so when we depart from it, the things we’ve done and the memories we have made live on and are remembered by future generations.
Don’t give up on your dreams. The journey towards fulfilling them may be difficult but never give up. Everybody can achieve their goals if they work hard enough towards them. I know I can do it and I know you can too.
Don’t let your dreams stay as dreams, make them a reality.
Never lose hope, our failure make us more strong & determined! keep chasing your dreams until you catch them! Good luck!
