1st Question –
You need to choose a gift for someone special and go online to check out the video game item catalogue. Who is this person and what present would you select for them?
It’s coming up to Christmas and I have to get presents for people but I have to get a really good present for someone special to me, my mother.
My mom has given and continues to give me support and she is always there when I want an opinion on something. Throughout my childhood my mom looked after me and my little brother and sister. My mom is the backbone of family, whilst my dad goes to work, my mum makes sure that the ship stays afloat.
In her free time, my mom likes watching TV, watching Chuck Norris films and playing video games. My mom has always been into video games, I played Tekken with my mom and dad when I was a kid and she still likes Tekken now, although she does not play it as much anymore. Her favourite game genres are Puzzle and Point and Click Adventures. She loves the Professor Layton games which are on the Nintendo DS and 3DS. If there was a puzzle that she couldn’t do then me and my brother would do our best to help. The Professor Layton games got the family together.

My mom adores the Professor Layton games.
There was one game on the Nintendo DS that my mom absolutely loved, Hotel Dusk: Room 215. She would play it everyday and it got that popular in the house, that my brother got it for his DS. There was however, a sequel to Hotel Dusk called, Last Window: The Secret of Cape West. We’ve tried to get the get game but it was very, very hard to find. Our local GAME store had never even heard of it. We went online and then a wall of sadness hit us, the game went for an absurd amount of money. By the time we were looking online for it, the game had already been out for four years, Last Window was released in 2010. Four years after the release for some random reason, the game’s price online was between £75-£120. Some games value for one reason or another, can rise to mind-boggling amounts (look at Panzer Dragoon and Snatcher).
As you’d expect this was a bit of a kick in the gut. My mom wanted to play Last Window and me and my dad wanted to get it for her but at that high of a price, we couldn’t get it. There is light at the end of this tale though. Earlier this year I looked up Last Window online, just out of curiosity and I was surprised. The price of Last Window had gone down considerably, to a nice and affordable price. £25-£35 is still a lot for a DS game (not 3DS) but it is a darn sight better than what it was before.

Last Window: The Secret of Cape West is finally at an affordable price.
So with Last Window being at a price that is easy on the wallet now, this will be the present I’ll get that special person. That special person being my mom.
What gift are you going to get someone special? Let me know in the comments below.
Also Merry Christmas everyone!
This is such a lovely post… I’m sure your mom is going to love her present! I hope she has a great Christmas. 🙂
