My E3 list of hype

E3 2018 is nearly upon us and this year’s expo is shaping up be one hell of an event. Every publisher that is holding a conference at E3 2018 has got a lot of stuff to show off and I can’t wait.
I thought I would do a list of the games I am most looking forward to seeing at E3 2018. This list will contain games that have already been announced (E3 2018 wish list coming in the next day or so). I have whittled it down to 10 games which was honestly quite tough as there are so many games that I want to see more of.
So here we go. Here are 10 games I want to see at E3 2018.
10. Crackdown 3

Crackdown 3 has to show up at E3 with a solid release date and with a promise that it won’t get delayed. Crackdown 3 was revealed at E3 2014 (yes, that long ago) and it still hasn’t been released. It was set to be released in 2016 but it got delayed to 2017. The game then suffered another delay and its current release date is Q2/Q3 2018.
This game needs to show up at Microsoft’s show with a trailer and hopefully with a gameplay demo but most importantly a solid release date. It cannot get delayed again as Microsoft have no other exclusives scheduled to release at the end of the year. My hype for Crackdown 3 is fading and I’m sure there are other people who feel the same way. Come on Microsoft, give us a release date that you are sure you can deliver on.
9. Final Fantasy VII Remake

It’s been a while since we’ve seen anything of the Final Fantasy VII Remake but that is more than likely due to the development problems various games media outlets reported on last year.
I think it is time we see another trailer and preferably with some gameplay in it just to reassure fans that the game is still alive. As for what they could show, that is up to Square Enix but if we get our first look at Tifa, Cid, Aerith and Sephiroth I would be more than happy. The question is though, will we actually see Final Fantasy VII Remake at E3 2018? I hope so.
8. Super Smash Bros Switch

Super Smash Bros Switch was announced earlier this year, Nintendo fans went wild and a part of the internet melted for a while.
We don’t know much about the game other than it’s coming to Switch and the game will include the Octolings from Splatoon. Classic characters like Mario, Link and Captain Falcon are 100% in the game but what guest characters will we see? Will Solid Snake and Bayonetta return? Could Sora from Kingdom Hearts make his Smash Bros debut (by the way #Sora4Smash).
It’s safe to say that whoever the guest characters are, that the game itself will be awesome. What new things will Smash Bros Switch bring to the table? We’ll see Super Smash Bros Switch at Nintendo’s E3 Direct.
7. Square Enix’s Avengers Game

We know next to nothing about Square Enix’s upcoming Avengers game which is being developed by Deus Ex developer, Eidos Montreal and Tomb Raider developer, Crystal Dynamics.
That is pretty much all we know about the Avengers game. We don’t know what kind of game it is, what it looks like, what it will play like, we know next to nothing.
I wouldn’t be at all surprised if people have forgotten about this game or have never even heard of it due to the radio silence. Here’s a link to the trailer for the Avengers game. Despite knowing nothing about it, I can’t help but feel hyped for this game. I love Marvel and I love video games, so an Avengers video game was always going to be a must have for me.
Will Square Enix show a new trailer and possibly some gameplay? I hope so, as it has been over a year since its initial announcement and we have heard nothing about it.
6. Soul Calibur VI

Everything Bandai Namco have shown off for Soul Calibur VI has been very good. The gameplay looks fast and very smooth. Character designs are as usual, on point and very distinctive. We got some returning characters like Zasalamel and Taki and there’s a new guy called Groh. Geralt of Rivia from the Witcher series is a guest character and his transition from The Witcher to Soul Calibur VI seems to have gone down well.
Soul Calibur VI will be at E3 2018, it’s pretty much certain as the game is scheduled to release later this year. I think we will see another character reveal and maybe our first looks at Soul Calibur VI’s story mode and character customisation (character customisation hasn’t been confirmed as of yet).
5. Resident Evil 2 Remake

Out of all the games in this list, this is the one we know the least on. All we know is Resident Evil 2 is getting remade and that is fantastic stuff.
Three years later… Where is it? I know Capcom have released the fantastic Resident Evil 7 but we have heard absolutely nothing about the Resident Evil 2 Remake. We’ve not even seen a screenshot. Will it play like old school Resident Evil games, with tank controls and fixed camera angles? Will it play more like Resident Evil 4 where the camera is behind the shoulder or could it be first person like Resident Evil 7? It’s anyones guess.
I hope we see something about Resident Evil 2 at E3, a CG trailer or a gameplay trailer, I don’t care which one. Just give us something to show that the game isn’t in development hell or worse, dead.
4. Fallout 76

I love the Fallout series. Ever since Fallout 3 I have been enamoured with the series; the world, the lore are incredibly interesting. I can get lost in the worlds each of the Fallout games I have because of how big and detailed they are.
When Bethesda Game Studios teased that they had an announcement last week, I was certain it was Fallout related due to the Gif and the style of the tease. The Gif said “Please stand by” and that was all it took for me to say, yeah, we’re getting a new Fallout.
We know we are getting more information about the game during Bethesda’s E3 showcase which is good. Rumours have suggested that Fallout 76 is an online survival RPG that will feature co-op base-building. If these rumours are indeed true, it will be a departure from the single player experience that many Fallout fans like myself have come to enjoy from the games.
I am looking forward to seeing what kind of game Fallout 76 actually is.
3. Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey

Just like Assassin’s Creed: Origins, Odyssey was leaked via official merchandise. Assassin’s Creed social media accounts then replied with small clip of a Spartan warrior hoofing someone off a cliff (300 style). I imagine that the Spartan warrior is Ubisoft and the person getting booted off the cliff is the leaker as the Gif definitely sends a message.
We don’t know much about Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey other than it being set in Ancient Greece which is a setting I am most looking forward to exploring. After the fantastic Assassin’s Creed: Origins, I cannot wait to see more of Odyssey. Roll on Ubisoft’s E3 conference.
2. Ghosts of Tsushima

This game was a big surprise when it got announced as many people, including myself, thought that Sucker Punch would be working on another Infamous game. We were wrong, completely wrong. Ghosts of Tsushima is a game that we know very little about but the setting and the developer behind it have got me very excited about what to expect.
Ghosts of Tsushima was revealed at Paris Games Week last year and the reveal was spectacular. It looks marvelous, there was good scenery shots and we saw someone who could potentially be the main protagonist. The game is set in 1274 Japan and the Mongol army have taken over the island of Tsushima. That setting is absolutely wonderful and already has me excited.
We don’t know a great deal about Ghosts of Tsushima but Sony have confirmed that we will be seeing a lot more of it at their E3 conference. I have no idea on what they will show but I am very, very hyped to see more.
1. Kingdom Hearts III

“Is this real life? Is this just fantasy”? I have to ask myself these questions every time I see a new trailer or gameplay for Kingdom Hearts III. I know that it is real, I know that we’ve seen gameplay of it but I still can’t believe that Kingdom Hearts III is actually real.
What has been shown so far of Kingdom Hearts III has been wonderful. The character models, especially the Disney characters look very nice. Buzz Lightyear and Woody look as if they have just been ripped straight from the movie. Graphically it looks stunning. Just from the trailers alone, Kingdom Hearts III is one of the most visually pleasing games I have seen this generation.
The gameplay looks amazing. There is “Athletic Flow” which looks a bit like Flow Motion. There’s also “Attraction Flow” which summons a Disney ride for Sora and his party. Don’t get me started on the Keyblade transformations which look crazy. Kingdom Hearts III’s gameplay seems to be a mix of all the best bits from the many games in the series all put into one.
Kingdom Hearts III will more than likely be shown at Square Enix’s E3 showcase. I have a feeling that we are going to get quite the explosion of information at E3 2018. I predict that we will see a new world, our first look at the Big Hero 6 world and a new story trailer. If these predictions turn out to be 100% correct, I will have a go on the lottery and see if I can predict the winning numbers (never going to happen).
Kingdom Hearts III is releasing this year, THIS YEAR. The game I have been waiting for over a decade for is finally coming out. My hype levels for this are extremely high.
Roll on E3 2018!

Of the ones you listed, I’m definitely stoked to see how AC Odyssey turns out. I checked out of the series for a while, but Origins was really good and I could still go for more of that version of AC. Final Fantasy VII Remake has my attention as well since the original game is incredibly special to me. Lastly, RE2’s remake has to be there, right? It’s been years since they confirmed it.
I haven’t done a ton of research on exactly what games are being shown, but playing around at the SNES Classic has me wanting easier access to some of my favorite games on other platforms. I’m hoping to see some sort of Persona collection on PS4, Xenosaga trilogy/Xenoblade Chronicles/X ports on Switch, and I’ve been crossing my fingers for years in hopes of a Legacy of Kain reboot.

If Odyssey is anything like AC Origins then we are in for a treat.
I hope we see FF VII Remake. Its been around a year now since SE made the development of it internal.
As for RE2 Remake, we know absolutely nothing. All we have on it is that announcement trailer from August 2015. They need to show it off just to reassure people that the game is still alive.
I’d love to see a Persona collection but I think if that happens, it will more than likely be announced at Tokyo Games Show. I do hope we get a localisation announcement of the Yakuza 3, 4 and 5 remasters soon.

OK, this is kind of creepy, your top four games are exactly the same as my top four. The only difference is Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is number two on my list and Ghosts of Tsushima is number three.

Great minds think alike 😉
I am incredibly hyped for the top four games on my list. I want E3 to hurry up because I am extremely curious as to what kind of game Fallout 76 actually is.
