I recently got myself an OLED Nintendo Switch, something I’ve had my eyes on for a while. It may be a shock to some but I’ve never owned a Switch. I’ve only played games on friends and family members Nintendo Switches.
For some reason I never got around to owning my own Switch, but a few weeks ago that changed and so too, did my current gaming tastes. I’ve got a bunch of games for the Switch and I’m only going to talk about a few of them. I want to say though, it has kind of changed how I played video games.
The screen is beautiful!

I want to start off by talking about the absolutely gorgeous OLED screen. Holy moly, it is stunning. I’ve been playing a tonne of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Mario Odyssey and the colour pops out like an exploding rainbow.
I’ve played on an original Switch the difference in visual quality is staggering. The OLED screen makes a huge difference. Not only is the screen better, it is a bit larger too.
It’s Luigi Time!

Luigi’s Mansion 3 has been a delight to play. I’ve had a big ol’ smile on my face since the second I started it. I’ve played the game before but this is the first time I’ve fully sat down and played it through and of course, on my own Switch.
I’m gonna straight up and say it, Luigi is better than Mario. He just is. Every elevator button we find, Luigi’s face brightens up and he makes a lovely smile. It warms my heart to see Luigi so damn happy, the fella deserves it.

I haven’t completed Luigi’s Mansion 3 yet, I’ve got 3 buttons left to get but man, I don’t want it to end. I’ve had so much exploring the mansion, vacuuming up ghosts and fighting cool bosses.
Mario Kart Addiction is back.

Cheers Nintendo Switch, you’ve brought back my Mario Kart addiction. My god, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is fantastic. So many tracks, so much to unlock and that’s without the insane amount of DLC tracks. By the time all of the DLC releases, I think we’ll hit over 90 tracks, which is absolutely bonkers.
Look, this game is fun, it’s one of the most fun games you can ever play. Great to play on your own, with a friend or even with a group of friends. Mario Kart is awesome.
I’ve been going through each of the cups as my dude Yoshi. Yoshi is awesome, I wish I could have a pet Yoshi.
This game is magical

I started playing Mario Odyssey when I got my Switch and wow, just wow. I’d say I’m enjoying it but that would be a HUGE understatement. People weren’t kidding when they said that Mario Odyssey is one of the best games on Switch. I’m actually going to go even further and say that it’s one of the best games in the past decade.
Every time I play it, I can’t help but smile and just get fully engrossed into playing it. Sometimes I only play it for 30 minutes yet I’vlm able to do so much in the game and there’s still so much left to do. The game is designed almost flawlessly, it’s clear that an incredible amount of care went into making this a phenomenal game. Time flows by so damn fast when playing Mario Odyssey.

It doesn’t feel like a chore to play, everything is fun and cool. I got to New Donk City and the band and good heavens, it was magical. This is a really special game. I want to keep talking about it but at the same time, I want to get back to Mario Odyssey.
Another thing, I think Mario Odyssey will be my first game review in a long time. I want to write a review of this. I need to complete and then talk about it even more. You can probably tell it’s going to be a positive review but how positive? Well you’ll have to wait and see.
Games in the future!

After I’ve completed Odyssey and Luigi’s Mansion 3, I’ll move on over to the new Kirby game which looks stunning. There’s the Switch version of Resident Evil 5 which is gonna be awesome. I’ve got Metroid Dread, I’m really excited for that one. There’s a game called West of Loathing which is a stick man cowboy RPG game which looks and sounds like a blast.
The game I’m possibly most excited to play but won’t be able to for a while is Famicom Detective Club. This game is right up my alley but it is digital only and it’s pretty darn expensive at the moment. I can afford it but with my backlog getting larger now thanks to owning a Switch, I’ve decided to wait a little while. There’s also Saints Row releasing in under two weeks, a game of which I am incredibly excited for.
There you have it folks. I’ve finally, after so long, got my own Nintendo Switch. Are there any games on the system you recommend? Let me know in the comments below or on Twitter – ThatGreenDude95.
Congrats on the Switch! Luigi’s Mansion 3 is great and Mario Odyssey is absolutely one of my favorite games of the last decade. I got all 999 power moons and have put, I think…150+ hours into the game 🎮
