Sunshine Blogger Award

Last week I got a pleasant surprise, I was nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award. I was nominated by Megan from A Geeky Gal. Megan is an awesome blogger who writes about video games and fashion, read her content, it’s very good. It’s the first time I have been nominated for this award and I’m honoured to be have been chosen.

I’m only going to be nominating six bloggers instead of 11 as I think many of the blogs that I follow have already received this award once already, I could be wrong.

The Rules:

Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their blog.

Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.

Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.

List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

The questions:

  • Who is the one person who has the most influence in your life?

My dad. He is the person that got me into comics, video games, martial arts movies, manga and anime. If it wasn’t for watching my dad play Tekken and asking him that I wanted to play it, I may not be here writing this.

  • What kind of things make you laugh the hardest?

People who hurt themselves, stupid stunts and whatnot. Jackass and The Dudesons never fail to cheer me up. I know those kind of things aren’t for everyone but I can’t help but laugh when Johnny Knoxville does something stupid.

Jackie Chan action comedy films also make me laugh a lot, one of my favourites is Rush Hour.

  • What do you and your best friend do when you hang out?

We get together and play video games for several hours and we have a good laugh. We play a variety of games but one we always play is Tekken 7, it used to be Tekken Tag Tournament 2. We play Tekken for hours and the competition is fierce, I usually win which is good (and how it should be, haha).

We joke about who is the better Tekken player (it’s me) and who is the better gamer in general (again, it’s me). We’ve played Tekken together for so many years and he’s yet to win a set (a full night’s play). He does kick my ass on Dead or Alive though so I don’t win all the time. We have fun playing fighting games and it’s something we will continue to do for the forseeable future.

  • What is your favorite game of all time and why?

This is such a hard decision because there are so many fantastic video games that I have played and that I love. If I had to choose though, it would probably be Kingdom Hearts II. I love that game so much, it has a special place in my heart.

  • What is one of your blog goals this year?

One of my blog goals was to get 100 followers here on WordPress and I achieved this earlier in the year. I want to continue to build a community where people can chill and talk about video games. Slowly but surely, we’re getting there.

  • What is your favorite game quote?

Kingdom Hearts has so many memorable quotes that I would be here all day listing them. One of my favourites is one from Sora in the first Kingdom Hearts game; “The heart may be weak. And sometimes it may even give in. But I’ve learned that deep down, there’s a light that never goes out!”

  • What game did you play the most as a kid?

Oh god, there’s so many games that I played the absolute hell out of when I was a kid, Kingdom Hearts, Tekken 3, 5 and Tekken Tag, Dino Crisis, Dark Chronicle and Ratchet and Clank. There is one game which I played an ungodly amount of and that is Digimon World 1. One of my PS1 memory cards was dedicated soley for Digimon World, I remember several save files for the game.

The last time I checked my main save file, I clocked in around 150 hours. Keep in mind that is only one save file. I don’t have an exact number of hours I put into Digimon World 1 but if I had to guess, I would say it’s around 300-400 hours.

  • Where is your favorite place to write?

It is one of two places, my bedroom or my grandparents garden. When I write in my room, I put on some blues or jazz music and then I start writing. Jazz and blues music calms me down, makes me mellow and it helps me to focus when I’m writing.

If it’s nice outside and I’m at my grandparents, I’ll sit outside and write whilst taking in the fresh air. It’s quiet where my grandparents live and when I sit outside I can listen to all the nature. It’s soothing and it makes me feel safe and somewhat at home. Writing in my grandparents garden is divine, there’s next to no distractions and it’s quiet except for the sounds of nature.

  • What currently inspires you?

My dream, my goal, my ambitions. The things I want to do in the future are what inspire me, as I have to work hard in order to get them. The dreams I want to achieve keep me going and I won’t rest until I have fulfilled them.

  • What are you looking forward to the most right now?

There are many games I am looking forward to but the two I am most looking forward to are Red Dead Redemption 2 and Kingdom Hearts III. The first Red Dead Redemption was not only my game of the year for 2010 but it is also my favourite game of last gen. I am very excited for Red Dead Redemption 2 but I do wonder, will it be as good and have the same impact as the first game.

As for Kingdom Hearts III, I think people who frequent my site and follow me on Twitter know how much I am looking forward to it. Kingdom Hearts III is a game I have been waiting so many years for. January 29 has got to hurry up.

  • If you could create a game, what would be the best part of it?

I would create a sequel to The Bouncer, given that Square Enix don’t seem interested in doing one. I’d also like to do sequels to Sleeping Dogs and L.A. Noire. The best part of a game if I was developing it? It would have to be either the story or the world design

My questions:

  • What is your favourite genre of game?
  • Which video game soundtrack is your favourite?
  • Which video game company do you like the most?
  • If you were a wrestler, what would your name be?
  • What is your favourite TV show?
  • Have you enjoyed a game that critics have panned?
  • What is your favourite game console?
  • Pepsi or Coca-Cola? (This is the most serious question)
  • What goals do you want to achieve by the end of the year?
  • What is your favourite cartoon?
  • You have to buy one of the following games, which one do you get? Your options: Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, Soul Calibur VI, Fallout 76, Red Dead Redemption 2 or Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

My nominations:

Apologies if you have been recently nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award by another blogger. You’re all fantastic writers and hey, more awards is always good, right?

    1. Thank you 🙂

There’s so many memorable quotes from Kingdom Hearts that it was very hard to pick just one. I like that quote, fond memories of the end of KH1.

Digimon World is a fantastic game that imo, doesn’t get enough credit for how in-depth it actually is. Fun fact: Digimon World 1 was never fully complete. There was supposed to be more content in the game but it got cut due to time constraints.
