Hey everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these update things and I think it’s time for another. In this update post, I’ll be talking about what’s been happening with my blog, myself and what is going to happen going forward.
My blog
For the past two months or so it’s been kinda, stop/ start with my blog. Earlier this year I got into a rut, felt demoralised and didn’t feel like writing. I came out of that hole and started writing solidly until about mid-late August. The desire to write left me and then a few weeks later it came back and then it left again.
2019 as a whole has been a weird year not just for me but for bloggers overall. It isn’t just me who has felt the like desire to write has left them, other bloggers and writers have had the same feeling throughout the year. There must be something in the air in 2019.
Rut or no rut. Desire or no desire to write. I’ve had enough of feeling like this and it’s time I take control again. Starting today I am doing so.
Throughout November there are going to be at least 3 pieces published a week, some big, some small. There are going to be more reviews as I’ve missed doing them. The Hot Take Friday series is coming back with at least two new instalments; one will be on Batman Arkham Knight, the other will be Resident Evil 6. The Y’know What We Need Piece was a big hit for me and it made my dad chuckle, so I consider it a success. Good news if you like the previous one about Brown Toilet Paper, the next one is coming soon, next week as a matter of fact.
I’ll be showing off some gaming merch, I might do a piece on any “Black Friday” pick-ups I get (if any). I might venture into gaming news, whether I cover it daily or do a weekly round-up I don’t know yet. I am also thinking of doing reviews for All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite. I’ve been wanting to write about wrestling on my blog for a while and with AEW’s weekly show being readily available via Fite and ITV, it feels like a good time to do so. This is one of the things, that is still up in the air.
What about me
Aside from the writing conundrum, I’ve been feeling good. I hurt my knee last month which meant I could do any rigorous exercise. As many of you know, I have been on a quest to lose weight and it’s been going alright. I haven’t lost as much as I would’ve liked but now that my knee is 100% I can get back into doing the usual exercises and hopefully go to the gym.
Still chasing the dream of living and working in Japan and I have made some steps towards that. Don’t want to say too much about this yet but as for now, nearly everything is going the way I want it to.
The future

Next year I want to expand That Green Dude beyond being a blog, I want to explore other mediums such as live streaming, podcasting and video content creation on YouTube.
I started live streaming on YouTube a few months back and I enjoyed it. I haven’t streamed in a while but the desire to do it is still there and I want to take it to the next step and a bigger platform for streaming. In 2020 I want to start live streaming on Twitch with a proper setup, all the works. I have had fun streaming and I have really enjoyed watching streamers such as Maximilian Dood and Tear of Grace. The communities that streamers have are incredible and I want to build a community of my own.
I also want to start a podcast next year focused on video games. Now I know that there are tonnes of podcasts out there but, I want to create one that people will not only find interesting but also very fun. I want to provide a bit of humour with the podcast as I think that will attract people to it. This is still very much in the planning stages but it is something I want to do.
Now I have dabbled in video creation before but I want That Green Dude to be a part of that as well. I was thinking I could take parts of my streams and upload them to YouTube. An example could be that I start a discussion on Tekken on stream and then edit and upload that segment to YouTube. Hopefully, this gets more people talking about the topic mentioned but also it acts as an advertisement for my streams. It’s something to ponder on.
That’s it, folks. I’ve updated you about pretty much everything. It’s time I take back control of my blog, it’s time I start writing again and it’s time to evolve. Thank you to everyone that has followed me and blog and to those that will do so in the future.
To all of my fellow bloggers and content creators, I wish you the best of luck with what you’re doing. I know all of you are going to knock it out of the park.
