What is Your Spookiest Video Game Moment?

It’s October, otherwise known as the “spooky” month. I thought as a way to celebrate the month of fright that I would ask a scary-themed question. I could have asked what is your favourite horror film or horror icon but I feel as though these questions are asked a lot during the Halloween season.

My blog/ site is primarily about video games so I’ve come up with a scary-themed video game related question. Here is the question:

What is your spookiest video game moment?

There are so many video games that have genuinely spooky or terrifying moments that it’s hard to decide which one is the scariest. I’ve asked this question because people often ask, “what is the scariest game you have played?”. It’s not often that people get asked for one specific moment and I thought asking this question could result in some very interesting answers.

My answer:

My spookiest video game moment isn’t actually from a video game, but rather a very weird incident that happened a few years ago with my PlayStation 2.

It was late at night and I was watching The Delta Force starring Chuck Norris and Lee Marvin, a film I adore. I was about halfway through the film when I heard the disc tray of my PS2 randomly open. It’s weird because not only was my PS2 on the other side of the room, it wasn’t even plugged in.

It was weird but I didn’t too much of it, so I shut the disc tray of my PS2. About 15 minutes later, it happened again. The disc tray of my PS2 was open and the console wasn’t even plugged in. Now I was spooked, for it to happen once is okay but for it to happen twice on the same day is incredibly weird.

It’s never happened again and I can’t figure out what did it. I tried watching The Delta Force again to see if that had some obscure way of opening the disc tray of my PS2. Surprise surprise, watching the film had no effect on the PS2. I want it to happen again so I can catch it on film but it’s as if the PS2 ghost has gone shy.

What’s your spookiest video game moment? You can answer this question by doing a blog post responding to this, make a video or you can leave a comment below. If you have a more creative way of answering this question, then go ahead. I look forward to reading your responses.

I ask questions from time to time on my blog as a way to get people and fellow bloggers talking. This question isn’t as serious as others I have asked on my blog but don’t worry, I’ve got a serious video game question I am asking soon.
