Swinging back into New York
Insomniac revealed not one but two games at the PS5 reveal event. One was Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and the other was Spider-Man: Miles Morales. I wasn’t expecting another Spider-Man game so soon but I ain’t complaining, more Spidey is always good. The biggest news is that we are playing as Miles Morales this time around, which I am 110% all for.
The trailer was short but we’ll be getting more information soon but for now, let’s talk about what we saw in the trailer.
This is Miles’ story
The trailer makes it very clear that this is Miles Morales story, not Peter Parker’s. I think Peter will be in the game, just that this time the focus isn’t on him. It will be interesting to see how Miles’ story plays out as (SPOILERS FOR SPIDER-MAN PS4) at the end of the game, Miles learns that he has the same abilities as Peter. Will this game have sections of Peter teaching him what to do? I think it will be pretty cool if that’s the case.
The other thing is, who will Miles be up against? There are so many villains in the Spider-Man universe that it could be anyone, I’m going out on a whim and say, Mysterio. Who do you think the villain could be?
Snowy New York
The trailer shows off New York in the middle of winter but whether we will see a warmer temperature remains to be seen. Spider-Man PS4 had a day-night cycle but never featured any snow, so this is going to make New York feel a bit fresher.
Insomniac has said that whilst this game is set in New York the map will be enhanced and expanded. How much bigger the map will be is unknown but the information will be coming soon, more than likely at Sony’s August event.
Enemies with futuristic gear
I have no idea who the bad guys that Miles is fighting are but their tech is what made me think that Mysterio will be the villain this time around. I might be wrong but who do you think these guys are?
Insomniac Games have said that this title will be a standalone expansion, similar to Uncharted: Lost Legacy which I think is good. I wasn’t expecting a full-fat Spider-Man game because it’s only been two years since the last game and they are also working on Ratchet and Clank.
What did you think of the Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales trailer? Are you excited about it? Do you need to see some gameplay before you decide to pick the game up? Let me know in the comments below.
