Top 10 Games I Want to See at E3

Let’s hope all of these make an appearance

Top 10 Games I want to see at E3 2019

E3 starts later this week so I think it’s time to name the top 10 games I want to see at E3 2019.

There will be a variety of games on this list, some that are well known and others that are a bit more niche. This list will only contain games that have officially been announced. There will be a separate article coming later this week where I reveal my E3 2019 wishlist that will be solely based on unannounced games.

With all of that said and done, let’s get started with my “Top 10 games I want to see at E3 2019”!

10. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Fallen Order looks good and the premise behind it sound amazing but all I want, is a damn good Star Wars game. The recent Battlefront games have been underwhelming. Sure, they look pretty but none of them have grabbed my attention to make me want to keep playing.

Fallen Order looks like it could be the Star Wars game I’ve been waiting years for. It’s single-player and story-driven, both of which are things I really like in games. There’s also the developer, Respawn, a great development studio that made the fantastic Titanfall 2. I like Respawn and after Titanfall 2, I have hope that they will do Fallen Order Justice. We’ll probably see this at Microsoft’s conference or at EA Play which takes place before E3.

9. Halo Infinite

Halo Infinite was announced last year and even though I didn’t like Halo 5 all that much, it only took one trailer for the series to pull me back. I love Halo, it’s one of my favourite first-person shooters and I am excited for Infinite.

We only got a reveal trailer for Halo Infinite last E3 so I think we’ll get a lot more on the game at Microsoft’s conference. This is only a guess but I think that Microsoft will end their show with a big Halo Infinite showing. It makes sense to me as it’s their biggest exclusive IP.

8. The Outer Worlds

A deep immersive RPG? Check. Cool and unique setting? Check. Is it being developed by renowned RPG devs Obsidian? Check.

The Outer Worlds looks incredible and it could end up being one of the best games of the year. It was revealed at The Game Awards 2018 and I was already bemused with its art direction. Gameplay for the upcoming title was released and it ticked all of the right boxes. It has some awesome RPG mechanics, great writing, fun shooting gameplay and a quirky sense of humour.

Whilst watching the gameplay I thought of one game, Fallout: New Vegas. I loved that game and if The Outer Worlds is already making me think of New Vegas, then I know that this game is on the right track. I can’t wait to see more of this game. This will more than likely appear at Microsoft’s show.

7. Digimon Survive

Everyone who knows me personally knows how much I love Digimon. The next game for the franchise is called Digimon Survive and it’s a tactical JRPG, similar to Final Fantasy Tactics. The game also looks fantastic visually but the game has gone dark with little to no information released about the game.

A few days ago Bandai Namco released a developer diary which relieved my worries and said that development was going fine. We more than likely won’t see this at any of the conferences but hopefully, IGN, Gamespot or any other gaming media site will provide some coverage of it during E3. I’d like a release date and a bit more on how many Digimon will be included in the game.

6. Starfield

Bethesda has said that both Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI won’t be at E3 2019 but what if they were trying to throw us off? It’d make for a bigger surprise if at their show they suddenly show more of Starfield. Not only that, it’s Bethesda Games Studios next RPG so it’s going to be one of the most talked about things of E3.

If I was Bethesda, I’d show off some Starfield to get people hyped for the next RPG and as a way to bring back fans that were lost when Fallout 76 was released. All we know about Starfield is that it’s going to be sci-fi RPG in the BGS style that many of us know and love.

I think we will see more of this at Bethesda’s conference despite what they have said. One thing is for sure, we won’t be seeing The Elder Scrolls VI at E3 which makes me sad.

5. Shenmue 3

The highly anticipated and long-awaited sequel is finally releasing later this year. So what better way to promote the game before its release than to show it off at E3. Thousands, possibly millions of eyes will be focused on E3 and if Shenmue 3 is shown, it’s good exposure.

What we need to see from Shenmue 3 are two things; a small 5-10 minute video showcasing the story and minute long video highlighting the combat. We’ve seen a bit of Shenmue and it’s looking a lot better now than it did a year ago.

I’ve been playing through Shenmue 1 and 2 again before the third game comes out and I’m still deeply engaged with the story. We need to know how this story ends. The stakes are high for this game but I’m confident that Yu Suzuki and his team will pull it off.

4. Cyberpunk 2077

There were multiple show stealers from last year’s E3 and this was one of the big ones. Cyberpunk 2077 is the next game from CD Projekt Red, the developers of The Witcher series. After the absolutely stellar Witcher 3, myself and many, many others are very excited to play Cyberpunk.

The developer released a lengthy chunk of gameplay a few weeks after E3 2018 and sweet mother of god was it good. The game looked incredible, the city looked very detailed and it was the busiest city I have ever seen in a video game. The RPG mechanics are a lot more in-depth here than they were in The Witcher 3. The ability to create your own character, choose things about their personality and more are very much my cup of tea.

Cyberpunk 2077 was fully revealed at Microsoft’s E3 conference last year so I think it’s a safe bet to expect this at Microsoft’s how this year. What do you want to see from Cyberpunk 2077?

3. Gears of War 5

Gears of War 5 looks amazing and goddamn I need this game ASAP. The ending for Gears of War 4 left me speechless, my jaw was on the flaw. Not only did The Coalition (the developers) make a fantastic Gears game, they also got me already invested for the next trilogy.

I would be happy if this is just more of the same but with a new deeply engrossing story and some cool new multiple features. Don’t fix it if ain’t broken and Gears of War is definitely not broken.

We already know that this is appearing at Microsoft’s E3 conference but what will they show off? We’ll definitely be getting another story trailer and maybe a multiplayer demonstration. They’ll show off the usual multiplayer modes and the popular Horde mode. One thing I do hope we see make a comeback is Beast mode. It was a really fun multiplayer mode and I and my friends have had many laughs with it.

Gears 5 is going to be good, I know it is but the thing everyone wants to know is, when is it coming out? We’ll get our answer at E3.

2. Final Fantasy VII Remake

Many people joked that Final Fantasy VII Remake would never come out and that it was dead. Then all of a sudden a few weeks ago, Square Enix dropped a new trailer and the hype for the game was back. The trailer ended with a message saying more to come in June”.

There are two places where we could get information on the upcoming remake, E3 and the FF7 concert. Now I think it’s pretty much a dead cert that we’ll see FF7 Remake at Square Enix’s E3 conference. We might also see some new footage at the FF7 concert because they did this with Kingdom Hearts 3 last year. However, don’t be disappointed if we don’t get anything from the FF7 concert.

What should we expect to see of Final Fantasy VII Remake? I think we’ll get our first look at the other party members; Tifa, Cid, Red XIII, Yuffie and so on. We might also get to see Sephiroth properly for the first time. What I want to see most though is a deep dive on how the combat works.

The thing that everybody wants though is the release date. When will Final Fantasy VII Remake be released? My guess is early 2020 but we should hopefully get our answer at Square Enix’s press conference.

1. DOOM Eternal

Here it is, the game I want to see the most is DOOM Eternal. I LOVE DOOM! I love, love, love it. I love the heavy, heart pounding, head-banging soundtrack, killing tonnes of demons in many gloriously violent ways. I love the speed of DOOM, it’s fast frantic action at its finest.

DOOM (2016) was amazing and it ended up being not only one of my favourite games of that year but also of all time. It was absolutely phenomenal, one of the best first-person shooters ever made.

Since then I have been eagerly awaiting a new DOOM, as my desire to shoot demons in the face with a shotgun grows and grows. Then last year Bethesda announce DOOM Eternal, a sequel to the 2016 title. Everything they have shown off so far for the upcoming demon killing spree has been brilliant. All of it has been ticking the right boxes and honestly, I just want it in my hands now. I want to shoot a Revenant’s head off.

We’ll be seeing this at Bethesda’s press conference and I think this will be the main game they’ll be showing off. All I want is a release date. Come on Bethesda, give me that release date so I can mark it down in my diary. I don’t want anyone to interrupt me killing hordes of demons.

What games do you want to see at E3 2019? Let me know in the comments below. If you want to know all of the dates and times for each E3 conference then click here.

  1. Digimon Survive is one of near the top of my own list. I love square tactics and it’s been ages since I’ve been able to play a Digimon game since I don’t have a PS4 for the last two RPGs. Can’t wait!

    1. I love Digimon and I am very excited for Survive. I’m glad that Digimon is finally branching back out to other consoles now.

Digimon Survive on the Switch would be brilliant because then I would be able to take my Digimon on the go.
